As you may remember a few weeks ago, I sent a few submissions out into the world…
I’m not a patient person, even less so when it comes to my writing, which as you can imagine is pure torture when you’re waiting for news on your work. I pace. I eat chocolate. I write. I moan. (Wow, this sounds dramatic!) So, when I woke up to an email from publisher Carina UK, simply saying they loved my story they wanted to call me to discuss, I completely freaked out. In a good way!
Aย couple of days later I got the call. And I mean the CALL. They were ringing me to offer me a two book deal.
It’s so hard for someone like me to try and remain calm, and professional, and like the antithesis of crazy, when you hear news like that. My eyebrows shot up, and I remained speechless for a few seconds, lest I make a complete fool of myself. I get excited! It’s exciting! Once I hung up, I ran around the house screaming, and doing a few fist pumps, until my five year olds told me, “Calm down, just calm down, Mum.” They don’t like the way I sing or dance either, but that’s another story …
Anyway, the first novella, Christmas at The Gingerbread Cafรฉ, is already in production. I can’t wait to share this with you. It’s a sweetย Christmas romance, situated in a small town called Ashford. And that’s all I can say for now… But I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!
Thank you for your support ๐
Congratulations! Hope something nice like that happens to us all!!
Thanks, Robert. And fingers crossed for you. I saw you sent your novella out in the world!
This is such a great call story! How exciting and congrats! I love the way our kids get perplexed when we’re the ones running around the house and screaming and dancing for joy!
Thank you Alli! Yes, it’s only ok when they act like five year olds! Sheesh ๐
That’s so cool that you literally got “the call” rather than “the email” which doesn’t sound nearly as exciting ๐ Mega congratulations!!!
Thanks, Kez! I tried to sound normal but I was overwhelmed with her gorgeous English accent, and all I could say was, “Yep.” “Yep.” I said to myself, “Stop saying Yep!” I wasn’t expecting that news. I was thinking it would be rewrite and resubmit. ๐
That is such exciting news! Congratulations and I can’t wait to read it!! ๐
